A healthy community helps to enhance the country's economic growth and productivity. But why is the involvement of the non-health sector and the public important in producing a healthy community?
A healthy community is one of the visions included in Goal Two of Wawasan Brunei 2035, which is 'Enjoying A High Quality of Life'. A workforce that is educated, skilled and of high calibre, is capable of undertaking duties and responsibilities that bring about success for the country.
Various efforts have been undertaken to address a major portion of factors contributing to health problems faced by Brunei citizens and residents, comprising especially non-communicable diseases.
Awareness and knowledge on health-related issues should be converted to more positive actions and behaviour. This is because health-conscious citizens are able to effect favourable change, whilst at the same time helping the country realise the goals of Wawasan Brunei 2035.
